Graduated from Charles University Prague, Faculty of Arts, in History and Political Economy. Did her  PhD in Modern History at the Institute of Czech and World History of the Czech Academy of Sciences 1987-1990. From 1990 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University Prague, founding member of the Institute of Political Studies, co-author of MA Programmes of  International Relations and Security Studies. Head of the Department of International Relations 2004-2015. Vice-dean of the Faculty 2002-2010. Fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies 2014-2015. Guest professor at the University of Konstanz 2009-2016. Chair of the Ph.D. studies of International Relations 2012-2022.
